Very Beginner Clay Workshop

Very Beginner Clay Workshop

Class Description:
Never worked with clay before? This workshop is for you! We will introduce you to this fun and messy medium through 3 foundational projects over 3 hours. The purpose of this workshop is to introduce you to clay and the creative process, not to go home with masterpiece!

You will create a pinch pot, coil pot and a slab box in this class. We will discuss terminology and introduce you to basic skills and techniques as well as the process of firing and glazing. Your finished pieces will be bisque fired and you are welcome to pickup the following week.

Although glazing is not included in this workshop, you are welcome to attend a drop-in Your Studio to glaze your first clay creations. Glazing requires a second firing and your pieces will be ready about a week later. There is an additional cost for this and you can decide at the workshop if this is something you wish to do. Alternatively, you can continue working on it in the multi-week class beginning the next week if you wish to enrol in.

After this workshop, you will feel confident to jump into one of our multi-week clay classes to create various projects through hand-building and wheels.

This workshop is great for those with little or no experience in clay or pottery and who want to prepare for the other Clay classes. If you register for this workshop, save $10 discount on our next multi-week Clay Practice – Bird Feeders & Wall Tiles that starts Jan 21 (use code CLYJAN2019 at checkout – this will only be honoured for registrants of this workshop).
