Acrylic Painting 2 – Landscapes – IN STUDIO

Class Description:

This class will be focused on landscape painting. Central to being able to paint landscapes is in being able to create convincing representations of space and light, and these will be the skills that we will be developing in this class. While we are working on this we will also be playing with colour schemes, composition, simplification techniques, site selection as well as exploring a bit of the history of the landscape painting genre.

The first three classes will be devoted to developing the skills necessary to capture space and light with paint – these will be done through quick studies of various landscapes. During the final two classes you will create a more in-depth landscape painting from a photograph of your choosing.

This class builds off of the skills covered in the Acrylic Level 2 classes with Jess and adds more room for including your own interests and personal artistic pursuits.  If you’ve taken a couple of Jess’s level 2 classes, you’ll be perfectly suited to expand your painting skills in this class with Scott! (Even if you haven’t taken a class with Jess, but have a bit of experience OR have taken the Very Beginner workshop, you will be perfectly suited to this exploration of landscapes!)

Please note this class is limited to 8 students so you will get plenty of individualized instruction and attention. All supplies are included, too!

Covid protocols:

• Students (and instructors) will be required to wear a mask at all times during the class.
• Please use hand sanitizer or wash hands with soap and water upon entry to studio
• Instructor will go over tool safety and protocols during the first class

Who this class is for:
Level 2
Focus: Skill Development
Adults only please. This Level 2 class is designed for those who have been introduced to the medium and tools and seeking continued learning and practicing. Skill development will be the focus. These classes are ideal to be taken repeatedly for continued practice.
If you have never painted before, please take the Very Beginner Workshop prior to this class to learn the basic skills of acrylic painting.

What to bring:
We have some aprons, but wear clothes that can withstand the elements (i.e. glue, paint, etc.) of a fun, creative art studio. Please bring your own face mask. Nothing else is required.
