Drawing 2 – Composition, Negative Space and Perspective

Class Description:
Have you been introduced to the very basics of drawing and are now ready to further develop your skills? You will see your drawing confidence and capabilities greatly improve after 5 weeks with us.

We will go through various exercises in the following areas:

  • How to compose your drawings to create balance and make it more visually appealing (this will apply to all mediums)
  • How seeing that negative and positive shapes share edges which will improve your drawing
  • Mastering sighting techniques in order to draw perspective and proportion
  • Creating your own finished still life drawing.

You will benefit from utilizing this class as a time to brush up and refine your drawing skills and techniques.

If you want to get more out of the class, homework will be given for you to further practice exercises on your own time, but is completely optional.

This course is based on many techniques from the renowned book “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain” by Betty Edwards.

Who is this class for:
Level 2
Focus: Skill Development
Adults only please. If you have no drawing experience, please take the Very Beginner Drawing Workshop prior to this class. This Level 2 class is designed for those who have been introduced to the medium and tools and seeking continued learning and practicing. Skill development will be the focus. These classes are ideal to be taken repeatedly for continued practice.

What to bring:
We have some aprons, but wear clothes that can withstand the elements (i.e. glue, paint, etc.) of a fun, creative art studio.
