Expressive Mark Making

Class Description:
Your artwork can be as unique as your handwriting but it takes practice. Bring new life to your drawing, art journaling or painting by learning techniques that expand your visual vocabulary. This class is filled with creative drawing and painting exercises that guide you into new territory where you’ll discover expressive mark making. Working on paper, we will use materials like graphite, pens, charcoal, watercolour, ink, and pastel to create marks that are filled with gesture and emotion. At the end of class Nicole will demonstrate how to repurpose your experiments into a mini hand-bound art journals.

What is included:
All supplies are included. That means you just show up!

Who is this class for:
Level 1
Focus: Learning the Basics
Adults only please. This Level 1 class is for students with little or no experience. You will learn the basic skills for use of tools and introduction to the medium.

What to bring:
Please bring a small stack of papers, eg. junk mail envelopes, the backs of old greeting cards, brown paper bag, any other non-glossy scrap paper. We have some aprons, but wear clothes that can withstand the elements (i.e. glue, paint, etc.) of a fun, creative art studio. Nothing else is required.

Please arrive no more than 5 minutes before scheduled start time.
