Oil Painting – Through the Flower

Class Description:
This Spring, immerse yourself in painting a bloom, up close and personal. Like American painter Georgia O’Keeffe, we will magnify a rose to study and celebrate its details. Experience the flow and seductive blending qualities of oil paint.

This workshop will focus on the centre of a fresh cut rose, from which you will paint a square painting alla prima (meaning all at once, so that the paint remains wet throughout). You will be guided through a complete process, beginning with observing, framing and composing your drawing, to gradually applying paint, building up layers from dark to light colours. Through this you will also experience the flow and blending capabilities oil and feel the subject come to life.

Who is this class for:
Level 2
Focus: Skill Development
Adults only please. This Level 2 class is designed for those who have been introduced to the medium and tools and seeking continued learning and practicing. Skill development will be the focus. These classes are ideal to be taken repeatedly for continued practice.

What to bring:
We have some aprons, but wear clothes that can withstand the elements (i.e. glue, paint, etc.) of a fun, creative art studio. Please bring your own face mask. Nothing else is required.
