Watercolour 2 – Demystifying Watercolour

Class Description:

In this series of five classes we’ll look at how to paint and describe form in watercolour and discriminate between the light and shade on objects and the local colour of objects. We’ll learn how to render objects devoid of colour and the value associated with it, monochromatically, and then add the local colour using the unique transparent qualities of watercolour that allow ‘glazing’.

In each class we’ll focus on a single subject matter. We’ll look at painting simple still life objects, the human face, the bizarre, hallucinogenic obfuscated forms of shiny and transparent objects, and then the challenging subject of describing form in landscapes.

As well as covering concepts and practicing them in class, students should be able to continue developing what they have learned after completion of the course.

Who this class is for:
Level 2
Focus: Skill Development
Adults only please. This Level 2 class is designed for those who have been introduced to the medium and tools and seeking continued learning and practicing. Skill development will be the focus. These classes are ideal to be taken repeatedly for continued practice.

If you have never painted before, please take the Very Beginner Watercolour Workshop prior to this class to learn the basic skills of watercolour painting.

What to bring:
We have some aprons, but wear clothes that can withstand the elements (i.e. glue, paint, etc.) of a fun, creative art studio. Nothing else is required.
