Watercolour 2 – Texture and Colour Mixing for Natural Objects

Class Description:

In this course we will look to the natural world and also to “watercolour drawings” by accomplished nineteenth century artists, lepidopterists (a person who studies butterflies and moths!), botanists, and ornithologists who set about documenting natural objects in sketchbooks and folios.

If possible, take some time to collect meaningful and compelling objects to paint and bring them to class. For example: stones, bark, boulders, dead things, bird wings, insects, pupae, larvae, flotsam, jetsam, fossils, flowers, weeds, leaves, fruit and veg, rusted artifacts etc. Some time will be devoted to experimenting with mixing and texturing watercolour paint in swatches, as well as learning to create form!

“Really enjoyed the watercolour class with Clive! He’s a talented artist and teacher…highly recommend it.”
-Cindy M.
