Watercolour 2 – The Incredible Landscape (of Vancouver Island)

Class Description:

On Vancouver Island we live in an incredible landscape of varied, complex terrain. Our notion of landscape and landscape art seems to come from the land itself and also from inspiration and insights found in art, film and animation. All the great art historical representations of landscape exist here on Vancouver Island; Pastoral, Picturesque, and most particularly, The Sublime.

Watercolour is traditionally associated with landscape and we’ll explore the island with this medium. We’ll learn how to manipulate pictorial depth and space with perspective, aerial perspective, lighting, and overlap and will explore techniques in watercolour that range from loose informal ‘field sketches’ to ‘built up’ studio work. What type of Vancouver Island watercolour landscape and watercolour approach will you become fixated on? This course might help you focus your vision of the land while improving your understanding of watercolour.

“Really enjoyed the watercolour class with Clive! He’s a talented artist and teacher…highly recommend it.”
